Why You Need a Motorcycle GPS

Article by Peter Clark

GPS is the new wave of navigating, and motorcycle GPS is no exception. But what exactly is GPS and why would you want it on a motorcycle?

GPS stands for global positioning system. It’s a high tech way of saying that it tell you where you are on the globe, and if you’ve got a motorcycle GPS system it tells you where your motorcycle is.

A GPS, including a motorcycle GPS, works by receiving radio signals from a series of satellites that are positioned in orbit around the globe. By cross referencing these satellite signals your motorcycle GPS unit can work out, to an accuracy of around 6 meters or less, exactly where you are.

In order for your GPS to work you need to be in a location where you can pick up the radio signals from a number of different satellites so that they can be cross referenced. Too few satellites and the accuracy goes down, none, or one, and it’s useless.

Early GPS systems, whilst accurate, had limited usefulness for the motorcyclist or car driver because they gave you your position on the globe in latitude and longitude. Whilst it was accurate, it wasn’t really user friendly, because you couldn’t really use it to plot your position on a map unless you were extremely map savvy and had the resources to do so. However modern motorcycle GPS systems have advanced way beyond this, and the best motorbike GPS units have now become a total motorcycle navigation solution.

The GPS technology has been combined with modern mapping software to eliminate the problem of being given only a latitude and longitude. Now you have a visual display that shows you exactly where you are on the map. So at a glance you can tell where you are.

And where you are wanting to go. Because high quality modern motorbike GPS systems are sufficiently high tech to allow you to rely on them 100% for your complete navigation needs.

So along with a map display showing you where you are you are also able to ask your motorcycle GPS to tell you how to get to where you want to go. It will do this with extraordinary accuracy, and will do so with both visual map pointers and voice prompts via bluetooth technology direct to your motorcycle helmet.

A good GPS motorcycle unit will come preloaded with a massive number of maps, and so you can navigate your way right across the country with the maps supplied. It should also have points of interest loaded as well, so that you can ask it to tell you the nearest fuel stop, motel or food stop.

And a dedicated motorcycle GPS unit should come with a properly designed handlebar mount so that you can mount it right there in front of you on the handlebars. However you shouldn’t need to look at it regularly, this isn’t safe, it should tell you direct to your helmet when you need to turn right or left.

It will also be able, if you have the correct subscriptions, to tell you when there is a traffic problem up ahead, and also tell you how to navigate your way around it. So by relying on your GPS navigator you should save both time, fuel and frustrations.

And make phone calls or listen to music along the way too if you wish.

A modern motorcycle GPS unit is one of the best tools a motorcyclist can have if he or she likes long rides. It does away with the need to carry, and consult, maps, and makes navigating a breeze.

And then at the end of the day you can download your ride and store it to recreate in the future. Or share it with your friends.

Motorcycle GPS Systems – a Great Accessory

Motorcycle GPS overcomes one of the problems of comfortable motorcycle riding. Navigation. It’s not easy navigating if you’re out on a trip on your bike when you don’t know where you’re going.

Of course you carry a map on your bike, everyone needs a map. However it’s sometimes not all that easy to use a map on a good motorcycle ride. How about when it’s raining, for example? You end up sitting on the side of the road looking at a soggy map.

Motorcycle navigation has always been more difficult than navigating a car, when for example, you usually have a passenger who can just tell you when to turn left for right.

When GPS technology, or Global Positioning System technology, became available to the general public it wasn’t totally user friendly, and certainly wasn’t all that useful for a motorcycle rider.

GPS works by using signals from satellites to triangulate your position on the globe. Unfortunately with early versions of GPS that was what you got. Your position on the globe. Useful perhaps for some, but not ideal for good car or motorcycle navigation.

However over the years GPS technology has been combined with modern computer software and mapping software to turn GPS in general, and motorcycle GPS in particular, into a total navigation solution for you or I.

And there are now dedicated motorcycle GPS systems that are specifically designed to be mounted on motorcycle handlebars which offer this motorbike navigation solution at an extremely attractive price. And as it is specifically designed to be used on a motorbike the best motorcycle GPS systems are vibration resistant and waterproof too.

You get a unit that mounts right where you can see it and it displays a map of exactly where you are going. Good GPS navigators are able to communicate to the motorcycle rider directly by way of bluetooth technology to an earpiece in the helmet, and directions are given right to the riders ear so he or she doesn’t even need to look down for visual directions, enhancing safety.

Program your ride right into your navigator before the ride and it will take you right across the country to where you want to go telling you every turn along the way. Ask it to take you past any one or more of thousands of points of interest, accomodation stops, fuel stops or a range of other destinations along the way and it will do so.

Subscribe to a service for real time traffic information and it will download information on traffic jams and automatically route you around them.

Then download your whole ride at the end and keep it for the future or share it with friends. Oh, and along the way perhaps you’d like your motorcycle GPS system to play you some music or give you hands free phone calling via bluetooth capability. And it will do lots lots more as well.

There’s no doubt that modern motorcycle GPS navigation systems have come a long way since the days of old Global Positioning System technology. For well under 00 you can buy one of the best GPS motorcycle navigators and make navigating your next long ride a breeze.

Ennova Announces New Bluetooth Stereo Earbuds

Aptos, CA (PRWEB) March 1, 2011

Ennova Direct, Inc. announced today the issuance of a new patent – US 7,747, 003, “Wireless headset apparatus and methods”. The patent represents a breakthrough in wireless headset technology, whereby two independent wireless stereo earbud headsets form a stereo connection. This technology enables users to listen to music streaming from their Bluetooth enabled MP3 players or Smartphones with the added ability of taking and making cell phone calls, and all without the tangled mess of wires.

“We felt the time for a totally independent wireless Bluetooth stereo earbud headset was long overdue,” according to Paul Regen, CEO of Ennova Direct and a former electronics engineer for Plantronics.

The ‘003 patent is pioneering as it marks the first efforts by any company to completely “cut the cord” and invent a totally wireless earbud headset that can either be worn independently on the ear, on any pair of sunglasses, a baseball cap, or via an optional behind-the-head band.

“We really aimed at inventing a headset that had the smallest footprint possible and that would be the most versatile wireless stereo headset invented to date. Everyone at Ennova is highly active and listening to music while doing the things we love is essential. For me, it’s snowboarding, but I really don’t enjoy the experience of having my headset cord twisted around my arms and neck or having my earbuds suddenly ripped out of my ears. This new patent represents a leap forward in wireless stereo headset design and we’re very excited about it,” said Peter Garrett, President of Ennova Direct, Inc.

The ‘033 patent is yet another high value intellectual property asset to be added to Ennova Direct’s growing patent portfolio; the portfolio has six issued US patents (US 6,979,210, US 7,040,425, US 7,090,515, US 7,462,044, US 7,566,231 & US 7,747,033), with additional patents pending. The patents are directed to retractable USB flash drives, biometric USB flash drives, wireless Bluetooth MP3 players, and wireless Bluetooth earbud headsets.

        About Ennova Direct Inc.

Ennova Direct, Inc. (http://www.ennovadirect.com) was founded in 2002 by Paul Regen and Peter Garrett, and is located at the northern end of the Monterey Bay in Scotts Valley, CA. Ennova Direct originally operated as a brand manufacturer but now focuses on its core competency of inventing and monetizing new consumer technology patents. The company’s founders have a combined experience of over fifty years in consumer product inventing, design, development and manufacturing.

Some time back Apple launched for its iPhone – a basic headset with no A2DP. However, for this reason only, the headset was discontinued. Bluetooth headsets, one of the latest gadgets in the list of mobiles and iPods are one of the most sought after things. Plain and placid, these gadgets have become superlative in each and every sense.

Like the Iqua SUN – the first solar powered headset in the world. With photovoltaic cell, it’s a great headset. To categorize bluetooth headsets come as wireless bluetooth headset, bluetooth stereo headset, bluetooth VOIP headset. 448da Bluetooth headset 3420963404 3cd965b68d m Basics of Bluetooth Headsets
                    by Raj Deut

What is a Bluetooth headset? You’ve certainly seen them, those things connected to people’s ears that make them look like they just walked out of a Star Trek convention. At first glance, it almost looks like a giant bug has attached itself to the side of the person’s face, causing a moment of alarm as one prepares either to help the poor victim or run for cover. Other times, people walk down the street, apparently talking to themselves in either calm or vigorous tones. It isn’t until a quick turn of the head reveals a Bluetooth headset.

A Bluetooth headset is an odd name for what this little gizmo is and does. First of all, it’s usually not blue, it doesn’t have anything to do with teeth, and it isn’t really a headset: it fits around the outside of your ear like sleek CD player headphone earpieces. With a Bluetooth headset, nothing gets draped around the neck or over the head.

A Bluetooth headset, in English, is a wireless device that connects one to mobile phones, PCs, laptops, digital cameras, printers and even video game consoles. It has global range capabilities and a short-range radio frequency. The distance a Bluetooth headset can pick up frequencies is determined by the power of the transceiver microchip inside, and most headsets can pick up anything as long as the other party or object is in range. The Bluetooth headset device also uses a radio communications system, and as long as the signal can be picked up, so can you. Be advised however, that in order to make a Bluetooth headset work, you need to meet certain specifications, and your Bluetooth headset must be compatible with that of the person or device with which you wish to communicate. Make sense?

One of the most positive aspects of Bluetooth headset capability is that it allows hands-free use. Especially with new laws on the books regarding people driving with cell phones, a Bluetooth headset offers a safe alternative, and yet allows necessary communication between parties or hardware. Believe it or not, a Bluetooth headset can also communicate with a PC mouse, printers and keyboards. A Bluetooth headset also allows users to transfer data from the headset to a destination such as a palm pilot as well. The younger groups will appreciate the fact that a Bluetooth headset can control gaming consoles such as Playstation 3, Nintendo, and new Wii technologies.

Bluetooth technology isn’t limited to the Bluetooth headset. It’s also found in just about any newer types of electronic and computer equipment being manufactured today. Even Wi-Fi uses the same frequency as a Bluetooth headset, while Bluetooth technology is more user friendly. First designed in 1994 by two Swedes, the original company now has thousands of companies worldwide. Major global companies such as Intel, Nokia, Sony and IBM have all taken advantage of boom in Bluetooth technology and developed products and services to support it. So, a Bluetooth headset is much more than a cute little mobile phone that fits over your ear. A Bluetooth headset is riding the crest of the wave into the future.

Considering purchasing a Bluetooth headset? Bluetooth is tomorrow’s technology, available today. Discover more about the freedom of Bluetooth at http://WirelessRevealed.com

Before Investing in a Bluetooth Stereo Headset

Riding the wave of the newest, hot technological item of the early 21st century doesn’t stop with the Bluetooth stereo headset. Now, Bluetooth capabilities offer more services and gadgets than ever before, including a Bluetooth stereo headset. When looking for a stereo headset, many major brands offer nice selections, but none so nice as those offered by Motorola.

Motorola is taking the lead when it comes to designing attractive and spiffy gadgets to complement Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Coming soon from Motorola is a behind the head, sleek, Bluetooth stereo headset that will allow users to wirelessly control music and telephone calls using a system of touch controls on the side of the headband. Another creation that will soon be released for public consumption is the SoundPilot Headphones. This Bluetooth stereo headset and controller will allow users to use their own headphones to both accept calls and listen to music no matter where it’s stored; on the computer, phone or other Bluetooth compatible device.

On the market now is a Bluetooth stereo headset called the Bluetooth DJ S805 headphones. These headphones look more like traditional, padded, wireless headphones that incorporate noise reduction and a wind resistant microphone to allow easy conversations no matter where you are or what you were listening to before you were interrupted. Also available now is the HT820 Bluetooth stereo headset, also designed to fit behind the head and over the ear. Both telephone and music capabilities are blended with this option as well, and music automatically stops when the headset receives an incoming call. After the conversation is completed, music will automatically resume. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Bluetooth stereo headset adapters are readily available and can easily slide into any available USB port on laptops or computers, enabling users to stream their favorite music directly from your home stereo or computer speakers. The most popular adaptor is the Motorola Stereo PC Adaptor PC850. Compatible with any Bluetooth stereo headset, this gadget is a must have for Bluetooth fans. The also popular Bluetooth Stereo PC adaptor D200 is a handy choice for those who want to turn their computer into a wireless music system. Both PCs and Macs accept this adaptor to wirelessly stream music from PC to headset with little fuss.

And, check this out. Motorola has the leading edge on wearable Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth stereo headset capabilities just took a leap into the future with ROKR Bluetooth stereo headset eyewear, designed especially for today’s always-on-the-go consumers. Of course, Bluetooth stereo headset accessories are also available for vehicles and office use as well. Experts in consumer electronics have predicted that within another five years, new cars will have built-in Bluetooth technology incorporated into their designs. The Bluetooth stereo headset has and will continue to be on the cutting edge of wireless connectivity, but be prepared to see different designs and models explode into the consumer market as technology continues to advance full speed ahead. One thing is certain; since the Bluetooth stereo headset is becoming so commonplace, where’s yours?

                            The History of Bluetooth Technology

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that is built into electronic gadgets. It lets you talk and share information like music, voice, and videos wirelessly. Bluetooth technology uses radio waves just like mobile phones, television, and FM radio. The difference between those devices and Bluetooth technology is distance.

Radios and television broadcast too many people over many miles. Bluetooth technology just sends information to your personal space. This personal space is called PAN, Personal Area Network. This goes up to a distance of 33 feet.

If you read in a product’s description the word Bluetooth, this means the product has a piece of hardware or a small computer chip that contains the Bluetooth radio. It also contains software that lets the user, the person who has the product, connect that product to other products that are using Bluetooth technology.  This connection is wireless.

The technology used by Bluetooth relates back to discoveries pioneered in the 1940′s by the military. The engineers at a Swedish company called Ericsson invented the Bluetooth technology in 1994. A group of companies, in 1998, worked together to connect their products using Bluetooth technology.

Seeing that the Bluetooth technology worked, the companies formed the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). This organization is devoted to maintaining this technology. Bluetooth technology is not owned by a single company but the members of the Bluetooth SIG all work together to develop the technology.

When SIG came into existence, Bluetooth was the code word for SIG. They designed Bluetooth technology to allow collaboration between different industries. An example of this collaboration is automotive markets and mobile phones.

Bluetooth technology was originally meant to be a replacement for the cables and wires between things like a mouse and a computer keyboard. Although it works great in those types of devices, Bluetooth Technology can do so much more. It can connect televisions, music players, and home care devices.

As the Bluetooth technology matures, people can create connections that were not possible with cables and wires. You can now connect your mobile phone to your car stereo, or print a picture from your camera phone.

Bluetooth technology will let you monitor your pulse, speed, and steps as you work out jogging, walking, or running. More than 13,000 companies are developing innovative products using Bluetooth technology. These innovative products range from wacky to wondrous and promise to make our lives more fun and easier.

If you are one of those people who like to talk on their cell phone and drive, Bluetooth technology is working to make it safer to do so. They are developing and using Bluetooth Technology. These hands free car systems are being developed to use speech recognition, and “speech trigger,” which is the ability to turn on a hands free device with a voice command.

As you can see, you can find Bluetooth technology in almost all of the products we use on a day-to-day basis, and more is being developed every day.
